Seminyak Bali

Recently there has been this Bali Craze in Singapore. Many of my friends & relatives are jetting to this weekend getaway. Going to Bali is no longer a luxury trip, those are myths. There are at least 5 airlines with daily flights from Singapore to Denpasar(Bali). They range from our flagship carrier, Singapore Airlines, Garuda Indonesia to Budget carrier like Jetstar Asia and Air Asia.
I jump in the craze and took a flight for a weekend getaway with my gf. Most Singaporeans tend to stay at the Seminyak area (30mins from the airport). Seminyak is famous for its private pools villas, beach club and of course food!
Without further delay, check out the top 5 must eat/go in Seminyak!

Warung Wahaha
Jalan Sunset Road
Barat No.1689 Seminyak
Bali, Indonesia
Tel: +62 361 886 9858
Pork ribs lovers, this is certainly a paradise for you. Not so much of the aesthetics of the place but certainly there is this Balinese feel in the restaurant. Went on a hot sunny afternoon, not much crowd but feels breezy inside the Warung.
The menu that comes along is a laminated showcard with the famous pork ribs(IDR 89,000/SGD 10) on the front. What caught my eye other than the pork ribs is the baby rib(IDR 39,000/SGD 4.50). The bigger ribs taste delicious with very tender meat and juice. For the baby ribs, it is fried with their homemade special sauce and garlic to give that very special Wahaha fragrance.
Ordered a glass of Avocado(IDR 15,000/SGD 1.80) and a glass of their veggie special (IDR 20,000/SGD 2.60) The avocado taste well although not as creamy(sinful) as those found at our famous Alexander Food Village Hawker Centre. For the veggie special, you must be a green lover to like it as it is the best detox drink I had during the trip.

Pak Malen Babi Guling
5 Jalan Sunset Road
Seminyak Bali, Indonesia
Babi guling, or suckling pig, is one of Bali’s most famed dishes. The pig is stuffed and infused with a spicy concoction typically involving turmeric, coriander seeds, lemongrass, and some local spices, traditionally spit-roasted.
At the Seminyak area, there is this little shack/hut which looks unimpressive at all around the corner of the entry road into the Seminyak main area of villas and beach club. It’s the Pak Malen Babi Guling. A plate of Babi Guling(IDR 25,000/SGD 3.00) is certain to fill up your stomach. It comes with a few types of pork, roasted, seasoned and barbequed. The chilli went down well with the whole dish and certainly something typical Singaporean taste buds will subscribe to. The babi keropok was very nice too, bought a packet as takeaway.(IDR 10,000/SGD 1.30)

W Hotel Beach Club
Staying at W hotel can be a burn in your pocket with rooms costing … and villas costing …  However that does not mean that you cannot enjoy the great scenic view of the ocean inside the W Hotel compound. They have this amphitheatre-liked architecture where the beach club is laid into a semi circle with very cozy sofa couches that easily simmer your afternoon away with the ocean breeze.
Simply order a drink or some desserts to stay your afternoon laze at the W Hotel. With that kind of 5 star service, scenic ocean view and setting, things are abit pricier. However there are the budget options of ordering a pint of bintang beer(IDR45,000 / SGD 5) or a tea set at (IDR40,000/ SGD 4.80) to buy a couple hours of serenity.

Ku De Ta Beach Club
Ku De Ta is an expensive name to be associated with in Singapore, located at the top of Marina Bay Sands sky garden. However in Bali, the name while with the same posh, sleek and class, might not be as pricey as you think.
Good to chill out along the beach front, similar to W hotel but less cozy. At Ku De Ta, you may want to have a fine dining date with your special other in that romantically lid setting. Try the black cod(IDR 290,000/SGD 35) which is fresh, well prepared with condiments matched. Seafood lover, the a la panche Seafood is a must order!(IDR 320,000/SGD 40) is a whole seafood meal. Comes with 2 fresh scallop, big head prawn, squid and barramundi fish, this is a feast that any seafood lover cannot miss! Considering the setting and the portion, the price is more than worth it!
Suggested plan is to have your dinner at around 7pm and laze around the beach front to extend the romantic dinner into the ocean breeze coupled with some drinks. That would round up a wonderful and memorable night.
For dinner, reservations to prevent disappointment.

Ultimo Italian Restuarant
This restaurant is a full house on weekdays. It is a casual fine dining type of setting with a wide variety of Italian dishes to please your taste buds. If you want to have a romantic dinner in the dim cozy lighting and enjoy your dinner with the Jazz band, get a seat inside the main eating area. This might mean that you have to wait longer for your tables. The main area features a bar counter which explains the slightly more chit-chatty atmosphere. Looking at all the selections makes my head dizzy, thus I opted for the set menu. The set menu is a 4-course dinner with very good selections of entree and mains. It ended off with a dessert that keep our night sweet. Set menu goes for (IDR 110,000/SGD 13) per person. Includes a pairing of house wine too. Very affordable and highly recommended.
